I'm thrilled about this. It's marvelous that it was planned with bipartisan support and I hope it passes ASAP.

Why would it take till 2014 to have a green card if it's immediate for DREAMers?

Because they are not defining anything. Thats why. Our immediate definition can be different than their definition. For you, immediate probably means a week, but these Senators, it can mean YEARS. Thats right. Crazy I know, right?

Again, nothing has been defined.

Because he's right. (If its immediate)

The fastest anyone can get a green card is 4-6 months. Even USC marriages. To pass the bill would probably take another 3-4 months. So, looking at around 2014, again big if, if everything goes by plan

I am not being greedy...trust me this is almost impossible to accomplish..
1- how secure do they want the boarder?
2- The AFL-CIO is already threatening to fight e-verify..why u think it keeps getting pushed back?
3- Ok the back of the line..let's see most family petitions take anywhere from 10-20 yrs..so if someone is already in that line ...Our parents go to the back of that line or any other immigration line for that matter..So they will be DACA FOR most likely the rest of their lives.
4- if u are A DACA eligible u can work and provide for your family..

Bro this of course is better than nothing..lets say I've been working in the shadows..what are the incentives for me to give up my whereabouts ..I still won't qualify for ANYTHING..
JUST LIKE US NOW..No SS benefits ,no unemployment compensation ..
Besides they can't even get the few if us approved in a timely manner image with millions more the wait would be 1-3 yrs just for approvals

And even if DREAM Act were to pass this time around, why would the Republicans do anything for the remainder of the undocumented population? What would be the incentive? They would have "helped" the DREAMers and gotten everything they wanted in terms of border security. So, where would that leave Mom and Dad? Or the other DREAMers who have been waiting for the past few years with the rest of us, but are now too old to qualify?
You are correct ..the Dems didn't support it in the house.
The original DA age was 35,whenever the republicans say something they always wanted an age of 25.. President Obama went with 30..so know it bet that will be the age requirement.
Will the dreamers that aged out .will there be any special wording in this bill to help them ..who knows?
E verify has been in place for sometime now..it just keeps gettin pushed back
The AFL-CIO is fighting tooth and nail against it..and some states..
For our parents to even go to the back of the line u know the fines will be steep, back taxes, and application fees..plus a 10-20yr wait for a GC..
They will be just as we are now Deferred Action ....
Name one boarder Governor who will say it is secure? Thy don't now so imagine if it meant millions receiving a GC...fuggetaboutit..
Both sides will say they got it done..but all they will have accomplished is more H1 visas, dome sort of a STEM BILL..more than likely a DA bill..and millions of a second class citizenship I bet they will include that Dreamers can not sponsor parents..
President Obama has to fight for this ..just as hard as he did for HIS healthcare bill..it was a conquests that was dear to him (MOM)..
THIS WILL BE A LONG UPHILL BATTLE..but the benchmarks set forth before the est.undocumentedcan receive a place in line, are darn near impossible to fulfill.

Of course the fines will be steep and they'll have to wait a ridiculous amount of time. But, we don't have another option at this point. If the undocumented population isn't "sufficiently punished," Republicans will shout amnesty from the rooftops and we'll get no where, again.

Even with a status similar to what we have now, they'll be able to drive, work and live. I'm not saying we should accept crumbs, but we can't demand a full course meal when one side isn't being cooperative.

We don't know what the benchmarks will be for securing the border. However, I highly doubt Democratic leadership will let people like Jan Brewer or Rick Perry decide if the border is secure enough. MSNBC contributors discussed the possibility of an advisory council, but ultimately, there will have to be some sort of time table in the final legislation to prevent an extremely lengthy wait time for adjustment of status. The federal government will be responsible for saying the benchmarks are met, not state governors who are vehemently against our legalization.

I understand there are certain things that we want, but at the end of the day, should we wait until the next administration considers taking up CIR? Should we continue having to make phone calls and send faxes to get folks out of deportation proceedings? I definitely don't think so.

Let's just hope they put time tables with real attainable time frames written inside this legislation...
Even with the outside committee they still said the governors will have a say so.
I will continue to send faxes, emails and write letters until this gets done. They have three blueprints so hopefully they can figure a plan that will work for both parties.
