It's odd that they are putting this in the language now when there is no clear consensus about LGBT issues and it's so divisive. I don't know what the strategy is? I'm pretty liberal so I didn't bat an eyelash at the inclusion.

I do think that if there is one way to kill the bill, this would be it. Most likely the language is going to be taken out as a form of compromise.

Well when the language is removed ...rest assured, their will be consequences one way or another,if the Dems don't get what they want ,then the Republicans will have to give up something..
But real rap this is typical divide and conquer technics..because the real issue will be PROVING WHEN THE BORDER IS SECURE ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE UNDOCUMENTED their path towards citizenship...Just wait and see...this gay issue is just to promote a decension between party members...cause its now a social issue ..FOH this whole bill is a social issue..dumbass McCain..

What exactly is an LGBTer?

Comprehensive immigration reform needs to include some provisions for what will be allowed for both heterosexual and homosexual partnerships. Why should it only allow for one and not the other? Otherwise it isn't comprehensive. All of this has to be addressed in a single bill, not in multiple bills, or it will never be accomplished.

I'm actually a little alarmed that some of you might even oppose the provision of rights to gays. How could you support rights for immigrants who are not even authorized while willfully ignoring the rights for another marginalized group who may actually be citizens. Dreamers of all people should know better than to sweep another group and their issue under the carpet for reasons that are self-serving -- because it's happened to dreamers so many times.

To clarify: I am not for sticking in some out of the ordinary provisions that expand rights to LGBT people in a CIR bill. I am only advocating that whatever CIR bill comes out treats LGBT immigrants and their families the same as all other immigrants. It should not discriminate. I am not advocating for jamming LGBT issues where they do not belong, in my view. Rather, I am advocating for CIR that does not discriminate.

You sound very pro-discrimination as long as you benefit. Such a mindset promotes the idea that dreamers are really not so different from bigots who oppose dreamers. You may want to check your ethics...

I'm sorry but lets look at it that way.
LGBT supporters want same-sex marriage approved.
People want illegal immigrants to have a legal status in the states.

We all cry for what we want.

You're being a bit selfish about saying that and it offends me that you're saying "for the sake of few cry babies".

Either way, either issues will be dealt with but, immigration reform should be #1 priority. But don't call us cry babies for wanting equal rights.
