It is kind of a two way problem. Because many, and I mean many, people from Mexico
are as of now are "in line" to get their permanent residency and because of the minute amount of visa's that are made available every year, this has created a decades long wait. My mom applied to be a US citizen but her application and ceremony happened a few months after I had turned 21 so I got relegated to this nightmarish wait.

Keep in mind that my case is not unique.

Time and time again people have said that it has been long overdue for the US to update the visa system (which would also include using visa's are go unused every year), but I guess people just do not want to have an increase in immigration, especially if it meant that many people from Mexico where to be able to come to the US.

And I guess if Mexico would have a better socio-econimic outlook many would not seek to be "economic refugees".

I seriously hope that the cut off age for the Dream Act is like 36.... or better... or no cut off age at all . I feel it's soo unfair for those who are over 31 and didn't qualify for DACA.

No no and no. Those folk will one day grow old and have no pension or anything for starters and it might even include dreamers that have age out.

We must not settle for less than a pathway to citizenship!

Exactly! They don't like that though but dreamers are individuals that came here as children and I'm sure there's tons of folk out there that are way over 30 and came here as children aka <18.

I don't think the republican will suddenly support Dream Act and want it to pass. They are just playing politics with it. They want to play like they support the bill and when it fail, they will blame the Democrats for not comprising.

Note that Eric Cantor has voted against this bill for the pass 11 years, thus I don't believe a single word coming out from his mouth.

Durbin also pointed out that Cantor had opposed the DREAM Act repeatedly since Durbin introduced it 12 years ago.

I agree with you. I really see CIR having more chances than the DA.

Poor DA it won't ever get signed it will always be just a bill.

If any of the above bad things happens, it can eventually eliminate the hope of any immigration bill. Something is better than nothing, particularly if it does offer citizenship to Dreamers.
This. A million times this.

I still remember in 2001 hearing about the so-called Dream Act. Bush wanted to pass some sort of immigration reform, and the Dream Act seemed likely to happen. Then BOOM. September 11, 2001. All immigration talks were over.

Durbin has called the DA a down payment for CIR in the past. But he was saying this at a time when he knew CIR would have no hopes of being able to float. Things look a little more promising, thus why he gave such a statement.

Nevertheless, I hope something...anything positive happens. The waiting we've done >.< blarh
