It's good to hear the Speaker 'speaking' about immigration and getting it done this year.I'm thinking Sessions won't be happy about this as he mentioned that the House should be prepared to reject the Senate offering.
Quote:
A bipartisan group of eight House members has been working secretly for more than four years to come up with a comprehensive deal to fix the nation’s broken immigration system, House Speaker John Boehner revealed Tuesday.

In an interview with Bloomberg Television’s Peter Cook, the Ohio Republican said the group, which includes Texas Republican Reps. Sam Johnson of Plano and John Carter of Round Rock, is nearing an agreement.

“What I’ve tried to do is to foster a conversation here in the House on a bipartisan basis to see if we can’t resolve many of these issues,” Boehner told Bloomberg TV. “And so, there have been four Democrats and four Republicans meeting now for almost four and a half years. And by and large, they have an agreement. There’s a couple of others where they disagree, but I expect that we’re going to see their product very soon.”

Boehner said the time has come for Washington to solve the immigration problem.

“I said the day after the election it’s time for us, time for our government, to begin to solve this problem,” the speaker said. “It’s been kicked around here for the last 15, 20 years. It’s just time to deal with it.”

In addition to the House’s secret “Gang of Eight” — which has been working for far longer than the highly publicized Senate group — House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte “is looking at these issues on a piecemeal basis.”

“What I’ve been trying to do is to continue to foster the education and the discussion about how we resolve it,” Boehner said. “It’s not going to be easy. But I am committed to seeing this issue resolved. I just think it’s time to deal honestly with a big challenge. This is a big challenge for our society. It needs to be dealt with. We’re going to deal with it.”

Boehner vowed House action on immigration this year.

“We’re going to have votes,” he told Bloomberg. “We’re going to deal with immigration in the House.”

It seems like it's going to be a bitter fight ." Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!”

I have been saying this for a long time now and I've honestly felt it over the past decade or so that I've been following U.S. Immigration debate. John Boehner is a genuine GOP Congressman willing to sit and talk about compromise. As a leader, I'm sure he will pull this through for the country. This time he will not be influenced by some of his racist colleagues.

Hopefully the Political Environment has become more palatable for Republicans. However, looking at some of the amendments filed for CIR its going to an uphill battle.

Boehner is the main guy for CIR. What he says matters a lot in my opinion.
