This better not have a permanent record, the last thing we need is to be permanently labeled as "illegal immigrants" even years after we legalize.

Having to choose between having a criminal record or legalizing with a permanent stain...

Well if that's the case, fuck it, I'll just wait till DOMA is shot down and have a gay marriage on my record instead.

Then I'll suddenly and magically become straight after my divorce but at least I'll be legal.
Maybe my roomate is a good choice, we live together anyway, sounds very plausible.

EXACTLY! I guess the House members that came up with this idea are NOT ready to work yet, that stipulation makes no sense whatsoever and is impractical. They need to have a seat and allow other more reasonable House members that are ready to work in the REAL world not in a fictitious one to take the lead.
