When the Gang of Eight’s immigration reform plan was considered before the Senate Judiciary Committee in May, LGBT advocates were heartbroken to watch as Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) withdrew an amendment from the bill that would haven given the same immigration rights to bi-national same-sex couples that are enjoyed by their straight counterparts. But now, the amendment is back.

Why can't illegals just go back to their country? Why don't the Jews just vote against Hitler next election? Why don't blacks just wait for emancipation?

Because it hurts to be prosecuted on something you had no choice over and waiting doesn't solve it. I for one applaud the persistence of gays fighting for their freedom. This ammendment won't pass in all likelihood, but they have to try.

Immigration reform is not passing with gay marriage amendment. So the gays here have 3 options:
1) Wait on supreme court ruling
2) Legalize via the general path the immigration bill will create
3) Kill the bill with their stupid amendment and stay illegal.

He we go again with this gay rights issue..it so much more than gay rights that will kill this bill in the House,,when the house is finished adding amendments this bill may get passed back to the Senate where as they will vote yay or nay, cause believe u me when it's all said and done nothing will be as cut and dry as this 800 page CIR bill..and the Senate will know if they don't pass it this way it won't get done.it will be dead on arrival..so please stop blaming the LGBTG community,,and please. They say Karma is a bitch..lets not forget if the Supreme Court does strike down DOMA and CIR fails then those same gays will petition to become legal will those straight undocumented will still be undocumented ..
