117 Republicans? Where did you get that number??

I believe we need 219 yays to pass the House and we have 201 Democrats. Let's say 10 - 15 Democrats vote against it. That leaves us with about 190 yays. 219 - 190 = 29. We only need about 30 House Republicans to vote yes.

We'll get a lot more than 30.

Yeah, but it's the only way to satisfy the 'Hastert rule'.I was off by 1 though it's actually 118 since the House GOP is made up of 234 members.

It is either pressure the Speaker to renege on his promise to his conference or the aforementioned,no matter the bill those are the options available unfortunately.

What if the undocumented has a degree in Law and concentration in Immigration. I guess they can start to work after getting legalized?

The thing that irritates me the most is the fact that they have to come up with 60 instead of 51 just because some bitter old man doesn't like the language of the bill. I guess 60 is the new 51

I agree with you, If all 202 Democrats sign on, we would only need a handful of republicans to join them and it would pass then make its way to Mr. Obama's desk where he will sign with joy.

The Hastert rule would apply here or I m sure Bohener would lose his job in a heart beat. It's the way the GOP does business when they are in control, a majority of their caucus has to favor the legislation at hand or no vote. I think it's stupid if you ask me, but I m sure this time around the pressure on the speaker will be huge and if no vote is brought up, it will be disastrous for the GOP come 2016 even 2014 mid terms.

I think the upcoming battle for immigration reform deserves a theme song. I pick this one. Maybe Marv Albert can have some voiceover for us:

After years of failed attempts to introduce immigration reform, the gang of 8 finally get passed the first round and face their biggest challenge yes. Will they convince enough Republicans and go against the odds and win, or will the forces who have wanted the 11 million undocumented to stay under the shadows, self deport, or get exploited while getting exploited win? It has come to this .

And no, I have nothing of substance to offer. Just sit back and enjoy the game.

Read the posts and you'll get it. If you're too lazy to do that or Google it, here you go.
