WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will try to ratchet up pressure on House Republicans this week to pass legislation overhauling the nation's immigration laws.

Obama will do interviews from the White House Tuesday with Spanish language television stations from Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and New York. The White House says the president will argue that immigration reform is in line with the nation's values and in the country's economic interests.

Obama's personal appeals come amid deep uncertainty over the future of the immigration overhaul that is a centerpiece of the president's second term agenda.

The Senate has passed a sweeping bill but GOP leaders in the House say that legislation is flawed. House Speaker John Boehner says many of his members want to deal with immigration but in a methodical, step-by-step fashion.
I think the President is going in the wrong areas, perhaps the swing states would be better concerning his messaging like Florida,Virginia,New Mexico and obviously Ohio.

The repubes still don't want to go near the Dream Act, they voted to defund DACA, and they make fun of the Dream Act with the introduction of the KIDS Act.

...smh...

Even then, the eligibility will be that you must have survived an abortion.

This is ridiculous - he is trying persuade the GOP to pass CIR by focusing on areas with large Hispanic populations by speaking to Hispanics on Spanish-language stations? Because, everyone knows the GOP rush home to watch the local affiliate of Univision and see where they stand with "Hispanics"??

Give me a break; we wouldn't even believe Schumer and Pelosi do this - how many of us do this? I for one, never. This is absurd.

I agree with you on this, I also rolled my eyes when I saw he was visiting Spanish Language stations in mostly areas that already has CIR support.

Honestly Obama should call a special session of the congress until house farts out an immigration bill. No immigration bill = no vacation.

Agreed, then we'll see how fast they get their ass moving.. It's like when the sequester hit and all flights got delayed.. Because these congressmen travel home every weekend they literally fixed the problem within days, when it doesn't effect them, they don't give a shit.
