A bill just like this one cleared the Connecticut legislature already. But there's a catch. It goes into effect on January 2015!!!!

Sounds great. Are there any limitations? ie. Looks different, can't be used as ID for travel, expires every year, or some other bullshit? Are the residency requirements out? Moving out of this shithole would be nice.

I think they want people to only use it as DL not as an ID, but I guess we have to wait for the final details.

This is great news!! Gov. Brown first signed the California Dream Act, and now this?!

If this passes, how long does the undocumented have to reside there to get it? What about once a resident there as undocumented?

this license is strictly for illegal immigrants , and yes i guess they said it would look a little different and have some regulations , im guessing its only for travel , IN california only

You better move to Cali now. These things don't take effect right away so maybe you have time to establish residency. Plus they are increasing the minimum wage to $10.

From what I read the licenses would be different than the regular ones they will be marked as "DP" (driver's privilege) instead of "DL" (driver's license). with the message "does not establish eligibility for employment or public benefit." Which is fine better than nothing but anybody else think this will just lead to profiling from law enforcement or businesses? I get the feeling the local PD will used this to hand out tickets like confetti to anybody with a DP license knowing well the driver most likely has no legal status and can easy be threaten with deportation or racist remarks etc.

i doubt it , california has already said that they will not cooperate with , comunidades seguras or safe communities , the program that pretty much picks every illegal alien regardless if it was a traffic stop , this "dp" drivers privilege is great for the community , because it works also as an identification , when an officer pulls you over , this document will be legit to present to them , no worries about being turned over to ice for "no id" , this will be a law in californa , its great for the hispanic community
