I've been reading some of the immigration reform-related articles that have been popping up online, and as usual, these people have been flocking to those sites to try to spread misinformation about CIR and the people it affects.

"Join NumbersUSA and read vdare"

I keep reading that on these articles...

They whine about how people are "tainting" them as racists/nativists instead of people who "speak out for Americans" or some shit like that. Because our USC relatives don't count, apparently, as Americans...

How do you combat this kind of ignorance? I'm afraid of their influence affecting the views of people who would otherwise be in support of CIR.

Awareness; you can join your local immigration community and have them host an educational forum.

Bottomline: those people have plenty of time to sit tight and write articles for you to read, if you really want to make an impact join a group and rally with us to get a fix the immigration issues.

I agree.

I believe it was posted a few years back that some of these organizations pay these posters to post anti-immigration reform responses on internet articles. So, take the comments with a grain of salt.

Polls and the election show that we have public opinion on our side. We just need to do our part and counter their arguments when it's time for voting to happen.

if you keep hearing the same thing over and over again, at some point, even with out reading the entire story or looking at the facts, you start to believe it.

Reading headlines like

"IMMIGRATION TO GRANT CITIZENSHIP TO 11 MILLION UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS"

sounds bad in comparison to

"TOUGH IMMIGRATION BILL CREATES A 10+ PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR QUALIFYING UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS"

Go read a yahoo article about this topic and you will find 1,000 plus nasty comments about how bad we are for this country.
