Beating this new right wing extremist is easier. Keep your hopes up.
That's a big IF a Democrat wins the general election because if not they just basically gave the seat to a more hardliner conservative who is not willing to work on immigration.

Just recently he was bragging about not bowing down to Obama and the Senate. For his troubles, his own party kicked him out for being too soft on us. Canter wasn't going to pass any immigration reform this summer, but he was smart enough to know the GOP is going to be in trouble long term if they continue their anti-immigration rants.

At least now it's all in the open and the lines are drawn. The Tea Party have made us their #1 enemy and have told the GOP candidates that they won't win their primaries if they even bend a little on immigration. Now we know what the party stands for so my guess is in the near term, the GOP may get some hard core right wingers, but those guys are the crazies and will eventually screw it up by saying the wrong thing about rape, gays, women, in addition to their usual hate for immigration and lose the election.

It may take a couple of election cycles for the GOP to wake up and kick the crazies out but then, it was going to take a couple of elections to get immigration reform passed anyway.

Meanwhile, we have to get our citizen friends and relatives to register to vote. There is no excuse to not vote this time.

In the long term, America will become another Mexico or India. We are immigrating back to those countries no matter who wins. Be happy!!

Slain by the very monster they created... I can't help but find sweet, sweet irony in all this.

I think Cantor losing is a setback because the Republican establishment was pushing back the Tea Party this past year and there was SOME moderate dialing back in rhetoric with immigration reform.

What's going to happen is that Congress gets more Republicans with more extremist tendencies and even if they lose the general election to thy kingdom come, they will NOT bite the hand that feeds them ----- militant, right wing anti-immigration Tea Party members who (thanks to redistricting) will quickly kick them out of the office if they don't go far enough.

Thanks to redistricting, we're screwed until 2020.
