I just saw the movie. I think that what he did was very brave. I have often wondered that maybe some of the anti immigrant crowds are against illegal immigration because they dont get to know us as individual human beings; they just really think of us as statistics and the cause of all their problems because of the fear mongering propaganda they get from Faux news and the mainstream media. The film showed this perfectly the moment he was interviewing a man only to be interrupted by another man who was clearly anti immigrant, but as soon as Vargas told him that he himself was an undocumented immigrant, and that he pays taxes, then all of the sudden the guy is cool with him. i have experienced this myself when I told people ( even some conservative repubs) that I am undocumented. Usually they dont believe me at first, but they all end up sympathizing with me because they got to know me on a personal level before they knew that I was undocumented.

a lot if not the majority of anti illegal immigration/immigration Reform DO know illegal aliens pay taxes but STILL ignore it.


ive plenty of them, you can show them your tax return down their throats and they just wont see it in a different way
