From what I'v gathered so far this is a temporary stay by one Bush-appointed judge in Texas. The Fifth Circuit likely will lift it. It's just a matter of how long this will take, which will obviously delay expanded applications.

Good luck convincing people to sign up for DAPA after this. Maybe that is the real intent here.

So? A backwater court in Texas has made a decision which only holds water in its jurisdiction. This will not affect implementation of DAPA and extended DACA anywhere else.

Two things I'm sure of in life:
If I find out any friends or family members voted for AbbottI will disown them.
I will never vote for a Republican as long as I'm alive.

I really hope the 5th circuit acts quickly to overturn this.

Yeah the decision from the NOLA court will take a few weeks guys. Maybe the administration can get the injunction lifted in a few days, but it is an emergency case and they will have to likely call a judge in to do so.

Quote:
“The Supreme Court and Congress have made clear that the federal government can set priorities in enforcing our immigration laws—which is exactly what the President did when he announced commonsense policies to help fix our broken immigration system,” he said. He added that the move would bring both economic and public safety benefits.

“The district court’s decision wrongly prevents these lawful, commonsense policies from taking effect and the Department of Justice has indicated that it will appeal that decision," Earnest said.

That appeal goes to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, located in New Orleans. The court is closed Tuesday for Mardi Gras, but its website says that the court is available for “Emergency Matters.”

The lawsuit against the president claims he is overstepping the bounds of presidential power and violating a clause of the Constitution that authorizes the president to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” In the view of those states, Obama’s move legislates where he should be enforcing.

Well, after going through what I've been through, nothing surprises me anymore.

If I see anything on Twitter guys, I will post it. But the general consensus is that the Justice Department's appeal is ready to go and will be submitted ASAP.

I know I keep saying this, but it's a disgrace how Republicans can win in Texas so easily with so many Hispanics and other immigrants here. If you don't want people like Abbott or Dan Patrick (his number 2 and equally crazy) to win nationally too, you really have to push your friends to register and vote Democrat. If the Republicans somehow win this lawsuit, you can be 100% sure that the original DACA will be in their crosshairs too.

For now, let's see how the appeal process will go. All I know is I feel like someone punched me in the gut right now.
