Guys, you're always "illegal" (undocumented). We all do not have a legal status. All we have is authorization to work and deference of deportation (and legal presence). It's a very strange, limboish position, but don't confuse yourself.

Thanks for putting the word in quotations. I think a lot of us do not appreciate the use of the word. Not to get all politically correct on this thread, but if want other people to stop using that as our label, we probably should too. I'm undocumented, and no human should ever be referred to as "illegal."

Anyway, really happy to see so many approvals! I'm still waiting for my EAD to finish production. I need to fly two days after my expiration date, so I went to the airport to find out about being able to board even without my new EAD. A border patrol agent told me not to worry, just come early and bring my DACA approval letter.

Consider yourself the lucky beneficiary of a USCIS screw up then. Two years ago, I too received my new EAD almost a month before my previous one expired but the start date on my new one had the date of my i-765 approval. And as far as I know from what I've seen here, that seems to be the norm.

Eh, undocumented or illegal — it all boils down to the same shit situation, no matter which one I get called.

IMHO, I highly dislike the term, and I think we ourselves should not use it because I think it just keeps perpetuating the xenophobic myth, and it feels like we are agreeing with that myth when we use it. I feel like not only is it bringing us down, but it dehumanizes us, it discriminate us and it thereby lets others treat us like some sort of subhuman class.

But others don't see it that way, but that's what I think.

It's exotic being illegal i find that women dig it. Especially the liberal type.

lol... oh the weekend topics on this thread- they do help the time pass. Now that no one really expects an approval on the weekend. Still checking the case status and ELIS though..can't help it. Maybe, just maybe, it will change.

So what do I do? Do I work with expired EAD or do I sit home?

I suggest picking up knitting or woodworking to pass the time.
