The House will probably go first with a border security/enforcement bill passed with mostly Republican support. The Senate will then take up the issue but with a legalization component. Then comes the fun part - conference committee.

That is where the differences between the bills gets hammered out and where the ultimate piece of legislation has the come from. It'll probably include a a legalization provision with the border security bill used as cover for Republicans and the need for Democratic votes in the Senate used as a basis for the legalization provisions.

They might get really strict on this relief bill. Think DACA but on steroids. They probably won't allow any crimes orbchange the date of arrival or some other BS.

I expect Republicans will argue for legalization without a path to citizenship.

We will see, it is definately going to be interesting as it unfolds.

At this point I'll take that and wait until millenials vote more and those baby boomers die off. Then we will get citizenship for sure lol

Yes,

I feel like most of us could care less. I would say 90% at least will marry at some point.

Life goes on...

True or at least a legal status to apply to move to another country while republicans wreck the US.

Let's hope that's the case. Secure the border period. Nothing more, nothing less.

I hope not. That would be irrational. Many dreamers who did not have a perfect record qualified for DACA. Those dreamers should not be barred from future relief.

For years, we've been saying that the citizenship is not an issue for us. We just wanted to get off this ride with legal residency/permanent residency, but advocacy groups have pushed a pathway to citizenship all along and now legal status in some form or the other is precisely what we'll end up with...if anything at all.

Right. I wouldn't be shocked at them instituting an unreasonable residency requirement (i.e. 15 years of continuous residence in the U.S. to qualify).
