Right. I wouldn't be shocked at them instituting an unreasonable residency requirement (i.e. 15 years of continuous residence in the U.S. to qualify).
Honestly it might come down to strict parameters, maybe something like:

- Proof of 15+ years of residency
- Proof of paying taxes, and if you miss any years you have to pay a penalty
- A second class citizen status, but we are able to adjust by other means like employer sponsorship or marriage etc.

I do not think a pathway to citizenship is ever going to work out.

Overall, I only see an immigration bill ever passing if the parameters are very strict for all undocumented individuals in general, but maybe a special add-on to the bill for Dreamers to give them a faster pathway to legal status.

Why not just do the border security + DREAM Act attached to it? I believe that bill will have strong bipartisan support.

Why remove DACA when we have mortgages, car loans, jobs and education that we are working on?

Its not like anyone can qualify for the DREAM Act. You need to meet certain requirements to be qualified for it.

This worries me, because besides DREAM Act...what about the other 8 million or so undocumented individuals who are not in the Dreamer category?

I believe if an immigration bill ever passes, no matter if its border enforcement only, or deportation only, or path to legal status included etc., it will be the last bill the USA will see in decades or centuries even (and I am not even exaggerating that prediction)

Don't forget the fine. We'll be paying a hefty fine in conjunction with the processing fees. I cannot remember what the fine was in the Gang of 8 Bill.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being something that converts to LPR with us then having to "get to the back of the line" to become citizens.

I honestly don't care, as long its some kind of status, and allows for travel abroad, and allows for us to adjust in other ways like marriage etc.

I am only getting older and am sick and tired of all this BS...lol...

If someone wants to laugh at me because I have something like a "Brown Card" that confers legal status to me but doesn't allow me to cruise into LPR or Citizenship, then so be it...I take the shit, shrug it off instantly, head to the club...flash my ID...get with some hotties...and dance the night away...bring it on baby!!!

We have to be inclusive so ideally speaking there will be brown, yellow, black, white and rainbow-stripped cards.

The thing is they've been trying that for years and it hasn't passed. Republicans will never vote for a comprehensive bill unless the border is secured FIRST. They should focus on what has strong support, pass that and then move on to the next thing, otherwise nothing gets done.

Border security + DREAM Act works for now. Than we tackle the rest..
