Jeh Johnson: Don't use Dreamer data for deportations

In particular, Johnson stressed that the Dreamers who applied for DACA did so knowing that their personal information — such as addresses and telephone numbers — would not be used against them for deportation purposes, unless there were national security concerns or other similar reasons.




“We believe these representations made by the U.S. government, upon with DACA applicants most assuredly relied, must continue to be honored,” Johnson wrote in the letter to lawmakers.

I smell a lawsuit if trump tries to use the information to target us - highly doubt he will though.

I am in agreement with this. It is why I expressed that the Judiciary will be an important one during this administration's reign. I propose a class-action lawsuit in the 9th Circuit!

@Piano, it is because the government expressly promised the information would not be used for removals.

Jeh Johnson alluded to this in an interview with Maddow. I can see California's AG Xavier Becerra leading the charge. Much like Texas with Obama, California will be a buffer to Trump's plans.

federal government is federal government. If Trump didn't like the baggage that comes w/the presidency he shouldn't have run. Same reason Mexico can sue if NAFTA is done away with.
