Using a made up ssn or a ssn that belongs to somebody else isn't itself committing fraud. It's when you absolutely know who that person is or if you use their name in combination with their ssn. The crime is in "knowing" . That's how I understood it anyway.

She has absolutely no excuse!!!
I agree that these people shouldn't be coming out now as this give us a bad rep, but saying that she has no excuse is just not true.

Before DACA, I was working below minimum wage and couldn't drive. I used to take the bus and it would take me over an hour getting to school/work and also when coming back. It also made me feel very bad since everyone around me had a car and a much better job. So I can definitely see why someone would steal an identity to get a DL or a job.

I am not advocating for stealing an identity, but just saying that we can understand why someone would do it.

It became a blurred line a while back. They lumped the field worker paying into someone else's social security with the meth head stealing mail from ordinary citizens.
