Doyle said his client, a small business owner with no criminal record, had just completed her 40-minute question and answer session when an ICE agent entered the office and informed her that she was ordered removed and was being taken into custody.

When asked if the five people arrested had criminal records, an ICE spokesman said two of the people had no criminal record while the other three had "multiple traffic violations.

What does "beginning the process" mean? I wonder what kind of appointments the other 2 if not AOS related. And if it was AOS interview, that's some BS. They were on the final step.

Yes one of them was on her AOS interview when she was detained. She had a previous order of deportation though but no criminal record. Whoever is running ICE in Portland, Oregon is on a power trip.

I wonder if they all had orders of deportation . All of these stories coming from Portland ! Someone is definitly doing some serious hate .

And why are we so obsessed with criminal records in this instance it does not matter what matters is if they had a removal order .

Obviously any crime that does not prevent them from applaying for a green card is not a serous crime or deportable .

But why would they apply with a removal order??

What was the point of such arrest unless they didn't qualify for green cards to begin with .

Yes they all had previous orders of deportation. However that doesn't disqualify them from following the due process of AOS through marriage. It's a damn if you do damn if you don't situation. Under Obamas guidelines these people would probably not be priorities for deportation but not under Trumps since he pretty much changed immigration enforcement priorities and anyone with no legal status is deemed deportable.

After reading through the article, the general synopsis is:

-The arrests happened in Massachusetts, NOT Oregon

-Lawrence is a sanctuary city and the administration has been conducting raids to send a message to each jurisdiction labeled as such

-The arrests seem to happen at a USCIS biometrics center

-No one finds it odd that ICE would arrest 5 individuals with orders of removal in quick succession? USCIS worked in conjunction with ICE to make this happen...because they make the time and place for appointments

-Marrying after a removal order could be seen as immigration fraud. The Brazilian woman was getting her biometrics, NOT an adjustment interview.

What about that "40 minute question and answer session"? Did USCIS stall until ICE showed up or something?
