It has been reported that Texas and ten other states want deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) eliminated.

For that reason, DHS Director Kelly warned that the political protection President Trump had promised to these close to 800,000 undocumented kids may come to an end.

If this administration allows this to happen, it will be a political catastrophe of biblical proportions for the Republican Party in the very near the future.

How can the GOP be so blind?

Most of these so-called "dreamers" are between 16 and 30 years old and did not break any immigration laws — as they were too young to do so.

Their massive deportation, because the feds know where they live, will send the message that the Republicans have declared war on Hispanics.

The GOP does not seem to realize that it’s going after a group that can labeled the "ideal immigrant."

Why? Because they were brought to the states before they could speak, so English is their first language.

Because they did not break any laws.

Because as a rule they are law-abiding. An overwhelming majority of them work or study, including at top schools like Harvard.

Because they feel American.

To get rid of the DACA protection could give the GOP political short-term benefits; and no doubt it will please the base, who see the "Dreamers" as future Democratic voters.

What they are not factoring in is that this punch in the gut could imperil the conservative movement reborn with Trump.

Here is why:

There about 55 million Americans of Hispanic origin, 18 percent of the total population.

Hispanics are the largest minority in the country, surpassing the African-American population.

More importantly, 27 million of them are eligible voters.

It’s true that only 50 percent of that number voted in the past election. But that also means that this community has not fully flexed its political muscle. Yet that does not mean that it can’t or that it won’t. The monster can wake up at any moment, in any political cycle.

Let’s put more figures in perspective.

44 percent of Hispanics are millennials. As they get older, they will become more politically active; by 2020 the monster could start roaring.

In 2016, there were 7.5 million more Hispanic voters (19.5 million in 200 due to younger Hispanics becoming eligible voters.

Why alienate a voting block that has the potential to make or break you in the long run?

Just because you feel they are going to be Democrats, no matter what?

George W. Bush got 45 percent of the Hispanic vote not long ago.

In Texas, Ted Cruz got 35 percent in 2016 that helped him become a Senator.

Hispanics will become a formidable voting block even if we close the border and deport all of the 11 million illegal immigrants.

The irony of all of this is that American Hispanics are the natural allies of the Republican Party:

They should be more inclined to vote Republican because tend to be socially conservative.

They tend to be more religious.

They are "big" on family values and moral issues, such as abortion.

And 20 percent are conservative Evangelicals, a very solid and dependable Republican constituency.

The more the conservative view of Hispanics as a demographic threat becomes official party dogma, the greater the chances Hispanic-Americans will become just that.

Republicans: Wake up and smell the votes.

Maybe we should start support GOP . They are the one in power now and they are the ones will be deciding our fate .
Fucking Democrat don't really care about our situation because they are not willing to compromise anything with GOP to exchange for DACA replacement legislation . They still insist on demanding "amnesty for all "

I am tired of them and disappointed .

Exactly what I've been thinking. I think Schumer did early on say something along those lines, but this was before DACA being directly attacked.
