it's time people curb their expectations of things.
cases like this aren't comparable to ours, when we've been here since even before '07.
not everyone will benefit from an immigration bill that democrats will finally compromise on.
hoping everyone will win in this situation is why we haven't accomplished anything in the 15+ years the dream act has kept failing.

They were likely fighting asylum cases, which can take years to resolve.

During my time spent under federal custody from ICE, i saw many people in detention fighting cases that were taking anywhere from 1-3 years to resolve, and yes that's how it works; suddenly the feds either deny it or approve it, and you get booted the fuck out right away or you get to stay.

A deportation can suddenly happen in a matter of days.

I met people who had been in detention for years. YEARS! I spent one month in there and wanted to fucking hang myself, lol.

Like i said before: staying out of trouble is no longer a safe bet in this Trump era. They'll come after anyone, anywhere, any time.
