so there is a new revision to the form i485. last week i mailed the previous i485. as per the USCIS website

"Beginning today, there will be a 60-day grace period during which USCIS will accept both the 01/17/17 and 06/26/17 editions of Form I-485 and Supplement A and J. Beginning Aug. 25, USCIS will only accept the revised Form and Supplement A and J of Form I-485 and will no longer accept earlier versions of either form."

Does that mean that they will still accept form POSTMARKED before 8/25 ?

USCIS considers an application to be accepted when it arrives at their lockbox.

So if you're filing right now you should use priority mail. If it gets really close to the 25th you should consider paying for express.

The forms are just getting longer and longer. The previous I-130 was 2 pages, current one is like 18.

Can someone please explain to me the whole deal with public charge and I-864 and 5 year wait to receive benefits after become resident. I'm just trying to figure out if after the 5 year wait you apply for benefits like food stamps you don't become a public charge or if you do.... or if you apply for Medicaid (pregnancy) before the 5 year wait do you become a public charge? Those are just examples. Thanks y'all

I'm not sure about the public charge guidelines for new LPRs, but if you stay married for 3 years after adjusting, you can naturalize and become a citizen, instead of 5 years. I would think that once you're a citizen, you can get any benefits without it being an issue

Has anyone had their interview cancelled?! I'm beyond pissed right now. It was supposed to be next month but " due to unforeseen circumstances" , it was cancelled. Now my status is back at case is ready to be scheduled for an interview.
