President Trump could trigger a furious response from corporations and some members of his own staff if he green-lights a plan under consideration at the White House to end DACA, the Obama-era policy that suspends deportation of some undocumented workers who arrived as children.
  • I'm told some top CEOs, including leaders in tech and retail, plan to be tough and vocal if Trump ends the policy. But they're keeping quiet for now because they fear antagonizing him on a question that could have massive implications for their workforces.
  • A top Silicon Valley executive told me: "There's no issue that's more gut-wrenching for us. These are people who came out of the shadows, got jobs and mortgages — we see this as betraying fellow Americans. ... This is consuming a ton of time at every major company."
  • Some multinationals are even making contingency plans to move vulnerable workers to overseas locations.

Why it matters: Trump has faced an escalating revolt from CEOs — starting with the Muslim ban, increasing with his climate-change decision, and peaking with his handling of Charlottesville. Scores of high profile CEOs would pummel him publicly if he clears the way for mass deportation of kids.
  • A similar dynamic has unfolded with his own staff, many of whom have faced pressure in social and family circles with each controversial move. Imagine the blowback if they stood by silently as kids were deported.
  • One person close to the White House said: "This is different. This is families being torn apart. This is something that will follow [the aides] when they go back to real life."

I sure do hope a storm is brewing. . With so much support it almost seems certain Daca will stay or at least just closed for new applicants .

There has never been an issue like this because the American people know who we are we have and continue to live amongst them .

I'm personally a rare commodity in my circles . Thanks to me many people get to meet and talk to a real life undocumented person where they would otherwise never get the privilege.

This is good sign in my eyes? I mean its better than the opposite of not being acknowledged.
As an LGBT person, I can't help but equate this to Harvey Milk's coming out qoute:

“Gay brothers and sisters,... You must come out. Come out... to your parents... I know that it is hard and will hurt them but think about how they will hurt you in the voting booth! Come out to your relatives... come out to your friends... if indeed they are your friends. Come out to your neighbors... to your fellow workers... to the people who work where you eat and shop... come out only to the people you know, and who know you. Not to anyone else. But once and for all, break down the myths, destroy the lies and distortions. For your sake. For their sake. For the sake of the youngsters who are becoming scared by the votes from Dade to Eugene.”

For such a long time were told not to disclose our dreamer and immigration statuses, but I think that this is our shot at something big. We need more mainstream visibility, and this is putting a name to an American face.
I know that when I tell people i'm a dreamer, they're shocked and tell me they never would've guessed. I'm glad these people are putting pressure.

Wow I really like Harvey Milk's quote . So true in all aspects of our life we most come out ! I did even before Daca most people will see you as resilient and not hate you.

Agreed. Specially for the people that has renewed more than two times already. I think we've proven that we are a great asset to the country.

I pay more 50K in state and federal taxes each year and I'm not going to see a dime of it back in any kind of federal benefits.

Come on man.

Trump is a business man and a negotiator but he wants his wall because it was a central campaign promise. So far he hasn't had any significant legislative victories and he wants to go in the 2018 midterms with something to show.

I think he does want to keep DACA but it isn't nearly as important to him as the wall or satisfying his base because at the end of the day they are the ones who will vote for him. When it comes to his priorities DACA is way way at the bottom.
