I don't have the card in hand, but from what I understand, it will run for a year. That will run concurrently with my EAD from my last renewal.

To put some metrics on the process thus far, it took 113 days after initial receipt for the Service to generate an ACS appointment. I walked in a few days after receiving the notice in the mail.

They're good for a year and renewable for free until there is a decision made on the AOS.

That's great news. Especially after that long wait for the biometrics.

First and foremost, NEVER lie on an immigration form. They can take that as committing fraud and can lead to a denial and deportation proceedings.

Now that that's out of the way... If they're being petitioned by a USC spouse or other direct relative then any unauthorized employment is forgiven.
Either way though, if they filed taxes then USCIS knows they've worked unauthorized so best to just be honest and put yes. You will get to explain why you worked on the last page of the form. Most people who know it will be forgiven write something along the lines of needed to work in order to provide for my families needs etc

This guys knows. I agree with you. I wish I could pin this response somewhere. With the new application this question will be asked over and over again.
