Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday Republican leaders should attach to the year-end government funding bill a fix to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
Quote:
Durbin, who appeared on CNN Sunday with Graham, said he also supports including a DACA fix to the government funding bill in December, but he refused to say whether he would demand that if it risks a government shutdown.

they can add anything to an omnibus spending bill,

An omnibus bill is a proposed law that covers a number of diverse or unrelated topics.

border security, end of chain migration, chip, defense spending and dream act can all be passed by the end of the year.

thats the point of the spending bill.

Oh man, I expected more from these 2 at this time.....it seems our momentum is fucking fading. This is just upsetting.

The phrases they used are still “hoping”, “let’s get it done”, “it will be sad if it does not”...it’s the same thing they have been saying. In fact, Graham said more definitive things before when he said he believe we can pass DA this year for sure. Now, it’s “if it doesn’t....” I’m just saying the tone is not very reassuring.

I don't see it that way either. DA attached to the omnibus is probably the best way for both parties.

Republican leadership has some cover: "We needed the votes"
Democrats get a win: "We didn't back down"
Even Trump: "I didn't let the government shut down"

We'll see how it plays out.

True, I haven’t watched the interview, only read it. I guess I didn’t get the time correctly. It’s just that their language is vague, I guess I want something more concrete by this time. We have 2 weeks to go!

I definitely understand about wanting something more concrete. I think they are keeping their language vague on purpose because otherwise the media jumps on their statements and then it's a headline all over Breitbart and there goes any chance of real compromise.

Democrats can’t say we will shutdown govt for dreamers. The very liberal ones, yes. It’s what their constituíamos want. However, the vast majority have to keep it cool. They have to say things like “ well the republicans have the votes to keep the govt open, but if they want democrats votes....”
