Yeah can't blame you, things are going the best they did in a while but nothing is certain until congress passes it and Dotard signs it with his best crayon.

Hell, I think this is the first time the Dream Act is a centerpiece of an agenda, in 2010 we were on the list but senate vote failed, oh well fuck us then (even though conference committee could've added us to the bill that'd then get an up/down vote).

Also, given the fact that Trump's been tweeting about the special election for Alabama's senate race (December 12, Session's original seat), you would think that the they are worried Moore might lose. That 2 week extension could hurt them even more in the Senate when it comes to the spending bill depending on the outcome of the race. They only stand to lose more leverage.

An invitation from the White House is just one clear proof that the Republicans don't have votes to pass the budget bill whether it is a 2-week extension or a long-term one. They keep saying that they don't want a DACA fixed attached to the budget bill, and one Senator even threatened the Democrats.... But, they control the whole legislative branch and executive branch and yet fail to pass a mere budget bill to keep the government running. At least on this one, the Democrats definitely have an upper hand.

All these GOP media opposition to DA is to send a message to their base that they opposed DA to be added.

GOP and Admin know DA is inevitable.

Long term one is prevented by the debt ceiling, they can't use a CR to get around that. Late December is basically as far down as they can get away with. Since debt ceiling isn't strictly a spending matter (since it neither increases or lowers revenues), it's not covered by reconciliation, meaning that it is subject to the filibuster meaning it may need 60 votes which no way how you look at it, Rs don't have in the senate. .

Best they could do is redirect away from it. I'm sure Fox and other state sponsored media could find something else to be upset about until everything passes.

I think they want to pass CR until Dec. 22, and also see who wins Senate race in Alabama, there election is on Dec. 19.
