What happened with the letter 70 GOP members were supposed to write? I hope that happens soon!

Most within the House GOP will not out of fear of their leadership. They could lose rank and "respect" within their conference.

If Freedom Caucus gives in AND nuclear option is used, we lose.
If Dem's give in we lose.
Nice summary. What exactly is the nuclear option and how does it work?

Nuclear option would get rid of the filibuster. I doubt republicans would do that especially since the 2018 elections are going to be horrible for them and they will be back to a minority party

Nuclear option is a change of senate rules by simple majority. Normally changing a rule requires 2/3rds majority. Nuclear option requires only a simple majority.

Thing is that nuclear option raises a constitutional challenge to a rule. By invoking it you are setting a precedent. The genie is out of the bottle and there's no way for you to put it back in.

Thing is that McConnell stonewalled democrats for the entirety of Obama presidency, he knows that's a tool that basically keeps republicans from going extinct. Imagine all of the progressive agenda passing with simple majority under a democratic trifecta?

2018 isn't going to be that bad because it's really an uphill senate battle for us. Since democrats are defending 25 seats and republicans only 8. Still, the way things are looking with Trump being an unpopular turd I think democrats have a chance of holding what they have or even snagging a seat or two. Winning majority is unlikely but possible.

This might be it, 34 House Republicans.
