GOP leaders promised House conservatives Thursday they’ll push more forcefully for a hardline immigration package that couples Dreamer protections with a host of tougher enforcement measures favored by immigration hawks.

Huddling Thursday night with leaders of the far-right Freedom Caucus, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) promised Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) that he’d assemble a team “to work that bill harder,” according to a source familiar with the discussion.

GOP leaders also vowed to bring a vote on the Goodlatte bill by the end of February — “but only if we get 218 Rs by then,” said the inside source, referring to a majority of House Republicans.

Unless they are lying to the freedom Caucus, this CLEARLY shows gop leaders have no interest in the so called good faith bipartisan negotiations they talk about.

It'll be DOA in the Senate. GOP will say it tried and we will be effectively fucked. That was the plan all along.

....I thought that was evident when I mentioned it.

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.) opposed the Republicans’ spending bill Thursday night to protest his party’s inaction on DACA.

“And I will continue voting no until we get a deal done,” he said leaving the chamber floor.

“This institution, regrettably, needs to be forced to action, otherwise it doesn’t move. So what I’m trying to do with my vote is fast-forward the process.”

Wish we had more republicans like him.

Ok, for those of the people hoping to get clean Dream Act or broader CIR for some border security measures...are you guys dumb?

We have the most right-wing presidency about 3 decades if not longer IN POWER. In addition, right wingers have control of the house, senate, and the Supreme Court.

Trump ran an a platform of deportation. People voted for him either BECAUSE of this platform or IN SPITE of this platform.

The fact that we have DACA renewals allowed right now (temporarily) is a miracle, and the fact that a permanent solution to DACA that is not deportation is the best case scenario anyone could have imagined...

Nobody in this thread or forum is calling for a clean Dream Act nor asking for CIR. Are you high again martinez?

They have seriously fucking lost their minds. An astounding amount of worthlessness from the people who are running the country. Strip them and exile them.
