He's a freshly elected, first-term senator from ALABAMA. He couldn't afford to "vote for illegal immigrants" at this time. I'm positive Schumer et al knew exactly how many aye's they had and were ok with it.

If they needed the 5 Dems to vote no instead of yes, they would have. However they are in the deepest red states

Odd, thought I heard his name. I’m watching the Senate feed though, I don’t get the banners.

Oh nice, I'm switching to this stream. So the tally is 50 yeas, 48 nays (i.e. 51-49 since turtle is a yea, McCain is a no since not voting/present basically equals no for cloture).

Yeah Turtle would need to get 9 people across right now.

They do a roll call even if the senator is not present, McCain was called and he's in AZ on his deathbed/

He won't get reelected anyway. Its dems voted him in office. Traitor.

Exactly...pretty sure Schumer gave Jones his support to vote Aye so he can save face with Alabama...Doug Jones has one of the most stressful seats in the Senate at the moment. He has to appease both Democrats and Republicans that voted for him and helped him win a deep red state.
