Daca is dead. The renewals are a distraction from the larger fight for Dream Act. The Supreme Court will kill it permanently like Dapa.

Technically the Supreme Court didn't kill it. It was frozen in that 4-4 vote. DACa has a better chance though I too see it fail but we gotta understand why eDACA made it to the Supreme Court in the first place ( something about eDACA not being announced in time or not being cleared yet getting the go. I forget the details )

It's time for us to find our own path.
All good points, Trump doesn't get his wall and the media will constantly blame him and paint daca as victims, all bad things for Trump. I would argue that daca is better than the Goodlatte bill except for the travel option offcourse and just magine if the supreme court sides with daca.

Now, I'm just scared Democrats will feel pressured into making a bad deal, especially with the backlash of the shutdown.

Don't give him anything, and let them keep passing a CR, so his cronies in Defense can feel it too.

Submit a renewal if you can, hopefully we are in a better bargaining position after the mid-terms and maybe the Supreme Court won't rule this year? Could possibly squeeze out another renewal.

And I expect nothing less than immediate citizenship from Democrats if they hold the the House, Senate, and White House for dropping the ball on this.
(Only slightly kidding on the last point)

In DACA legal fight, Supreme Court agrees just now to expedite consideration of the Trump administration's petition to undo lower court order that keeps program in place.

Supreme Court grants motion to expedite briefing in DACA case, in part (with Feb. 2 deadline for response). Looks like petition for cert before judgment could be considered at Feb. 16 conference.

It’s quite ironic that the same reason the judge in Texas block eDACA, was used by the same judge in California to bring back DACA. Which was the Administrative Procedure Act. I do agree, DACA does have a better chance in the Supreme Court. People tend to forget that e-Daca wasn’t blocked because it was “unconstitutional”. It was blocked because of the Administrative Procedure Act.

The shutdown ended after McConnell agreed to bring a discussion on DACA to the Senate floor followed by a vote. But on Monday, Scalise—the House majority whip—said his chamber made no such arrangement.

"We're not going to pass a bill that has amnesty," he said. "There are things that would anger our base that I don’t see us passing in the House.

I was an optimist , but now House Republicans are showing their true colors. Hope everyone gets their renewals in !
