The GOP is divided as far as spending bill goes, they don't have the votes. GOP leadership would need significant Dem support to pass a long term spending bill.

I think he really wants a DACA fix, but not for the right reasons. He just wants to brag about it that "he alone" fixed it. I honestly dont care as long as it gets fixed, but Dems might not like it, so they might obstruct/stall or come up with some random excuse to not proceed. Who knows..?

Wouldn't surprise me if they did put that one to vote just to watch it be defeated by Dems so they could subsequently blame them.

But it’s not what senators are talking about. Cornyn (who likes WH plan) and Durbin are trying to strike deal but not going well. Absent that, 20 senators are trying to present barebones DACA/border bill that would be a starting point for floor debate
