And on the house side:

@MEPFuller
Quote:
Rep. Luis Gutierrez says if Pelosi asked for Democrats to support a caps deal without a DACA agreement, that would be “a complete betrayal.”

He says he might not ever go to another Democratic Caucus breakfast if that were the case.
Quote:
The bases of both parties are already opposing this deal and the deal hasn’t even been made yet.
Quote:
Dem leaders are all huddled around Pelosi right now — Hoyer, Crowley, Ray Lujan, and about 8 aides.

A key moment for Democrats. This deal could define them for a while.
Quote:
Nita Lowey, the ranking Dem on Appropriations, looks less than impressed with the deal.

She’s talking with Pelosi.

There is a BIG chasm among House. Democrats who will balk on a spending caps deal. unless there is something on DACA. Big question is how many Dems GOP needs Pelosi to deliver to get caps accord & vote to fund the gov’t. Am told that balance is “delicate.”

I am truly convinced that there are only two people in the U.S. Congress that are doing this because they genuinely want to help us: Gutierrez and Durbin.

That was a given since this is the gang of 4 number 2s in Congress. I’m not optimistic about the meeting. Theyll come out of the meeting in agreement to have more meetings (like they have with every other meeting).

I was about to write the same thing. Makes me wonder what they do in those meetings if they never produce anything useful. Maybe they just enjoy having free coffee and cookies while getting paid.
