I clearly stated that this news is not directly related to DACA in the original post....

However, he has been a very important voice in the immigration debate in the Senate for the past decade or so. Losing him is a significant loss for our cause, especially because he is one of the very few Republicans left in the Senate supporting immigration bills for us. His past votes may have disappointed many, but he still worked hard to find compromise bills in the past. We are now one more vote short.

Was able to talk to him in 2014 briefly. Real sincere guy who you can tell is passionate about everything he does.

I’d like to think that if his vote mattered in the Dream Act 2010 vote, he would’ve voted in favor of us like how he did during the ACA vote.

Rest well friend.

Some of my Dreamer friends are quite upset (and rightly so) of McCain's No vote in 2010. Even I was extremely angry at the man for that. However, I compromised and made peace with him as I vividly remember his bipartisan efforts with the Late Sen. Ted Kennedy (God Bless that Man) during the Bush Admin. I was a kid during those days and was following that debate CLOSELY. Really saddened this weekend after McCain departed us. True Maverick! RIP John.

Shit. How young were you? During the Ted Kennedy days, I didn’t even know I was undocumented. I didn’t even know what undocumented meant.

I'm 30 right now. That bipartisan effort between McCain and Kennedy was under Bush Admin way before the 2010 failed DA vote. Here's a sample article.

https://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/18/w...n/18immig.html

Just starting to think about those times brings tears in my eyes. Those were TOUGH times for a young high school kid who is looking forward to getting a drivers license and other things. I understand now that I was wrong in throwing my tantrums at home and now I appreciate those struggles and realize that was NOTHING compared to the struggle that actual adulthood brings (regardless of immigration status). But I do credit myself of being very knowledgeable at the time about immigration. Back then my family used to HATE Sessions because he was always on the Senate floor trying to strike deals down. But I still remember McCain and Kennedy spearheaded these efforts in good faith.

Closed on a beautiful condo plus clubbin and thuggin here and there, just keepin it real. The time has come now for the blue wave so I thought I'd become active again. Beto is making massive moves in Texas to oust El Estupido Cruz. And tbh with you my patience with Trump is running thin. He still hasn't fired Miller but I'm hoping in the coming days he gets rid of Sessions!
