That sounds like a good plan. It must include relief for DACAers of course tho.

If ANYTHING is to pass, it surely will have a DACA fix but if Dems keep insisting on “clean DA” ain’t nothing passing!

I don't see anywhere where this fluff piece says anything about Deffered Action For Illegal Immigrant Childhood Arrivals.

Until proven otherwise we should remain at a level 2 panic and fear. 2 being second lowest.

That is exactly what Trump wants. But his idea of CIR includes a merit based system and full revamp. I agree sort of with that. It’s just not fair that only those with blood relative US citizens get to come to America. I just pray that they realize that something must be done about the undocumented already here. And Dems and million dollar immigrant orgs need to give up on “immediate citizenship or nothing.”

DACA isn’t gone though. Do you have any family based petition pending?

NEW: Pres Trump met w/ Repub senators to unveil a new immigration plan that would focus on 2 things: 1) A border security bill that would in part modernize ports of entry 2) Overhaul legal system by making it “merit based,” keeping same #s but changing composition of immigrants

Tmeline for when bill would move through Congress is unclear. A senior admin official said Trump is focused on soliciting feedback, building unified Republican support for plan and he will decide when and how to unveil it. “We will take the time to get it right,” official said.

Aministration official also said President Trump has 6 goals: 1) Securing the border 2) Protect American wages 3) Retain and attract best and brightest immigrants 4) Unify families (his admin separated) 5) Have labor for “critical industries” & 6) Preserve humanitarian values

The plan is conceding in a big way that immigrant families separated by Trump’s adminstration need to be a priority. (The courts have said that first of course and have given this adminstration a 6 month deadline to identify separated families.) But it’s a striking admission.

The adminstration official said TPS holders aren’t part of the immigration plan. It also sounded like DACA and amnesty aren’t part of the plan as of now. And so far, no Democrats have been included in the talks. The official said the focus is building Republican support first.

Pelosi is meeting with immigration groups and lawmakers this afternoon to try to break the stalemate over the Dreamer bill.

But that comprehensive immigration reform leaders on both sides keep mentioning? Forget about it.
