I joined and from what I’m reading, we have a pretty solid case. It’s the wait that’s going to be the end of me.

But she is safe, and we live comfortably and can support her financially while she’s there waiting. Many people do not have that and I have to keep reminding myself that it can be worse.

My wife and I self filed I-130 back in October and we just got an approval notice! It took exactly 8 months!

On to the fun part.

When do we pay for the DS-260 and File I-864?

I believe I-601a is after?

You'll need to submit and wait for the I-601A waiver to get approved first. Once that's approved, you can submit your DS-260 and file the I-864.

It sucks big time, but we're working through it. We got her a nice safe place and the entire family is taking turns going to spend a few days/nights with her so she doesn't sound as distraught as when she was denied.

Her denial was based on the agent thinking she smuggled me, which she didn't, but as long as you don't have that against you then you should be fine.

We're sending in the I-601 (not 601A) this week as we finally gathered all the requested documents, etc. We will ask for expedited processing which seems hard to be granted but worth a try considering my grandma's health.

I have a question. Once the i-130 gets approved whats next? You pay first the ds260 and aos? Or you start 601a asap?

Currently on this step. It looks like after the I-130, we submit I-601A.

Have you gotten your I-130 approved

Thanks for the update, we filed in December so I'm hoping sometime in August we'll get our approval. Did you have to do an interview?

We filed in late October and we got approved about a week and a half ago, so you guys should hear back sometime in late July/August for sure.

Are you guys working with a lawyer or on your own?
