Correct.

The panel sets the terms for budget reconciliation, a procedure that allows senators to approve certain tax and spending bills with a simple majority and sidestep the 60-vote threshold needed for most legislation.

With a 50-50 split that will often require tie-breaking votes cast by Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, Democrats are likely to find themselves relying on reconciliation to advance the parts of their legislative agenda most likely to draw full GOP opposition...
Imo, The democrats might be more serious about their governing priorities than this 2nd attempt at impeachment. They will attempt do so through the aforementioned process with a simple majority. What if Sanders attached piecemeal legislation within committee?

A while back, USCIS requested a certain amount of money so operations can continue as they are not doing well fiscally due to the pandemic. Technically, that is germaine to the Budget committee that Sanders will Chair.

This is a big what IF...considering legalization programs usually have a big fine...and USCIS operates off of fees....so...

To cut things short....introduce Dream act ONLY as an amendment in committee. During reconciliation to pass in both houses...add in.

Also, I have nothing against TPS but DACA should be treated independently. They're completely different programs. DACAers know one country only.

UPDATE: Who cares at the end of the day, right? Just get us all GCs.
They should also be included.

I think Biden and Harris can get this done. Very optimistic

So we don't even need much GOP support

Just the will of Dems

Everything hangs on will of Dems to actually do something

What McConnell and Co did with Amy Coney Barrett has opened the gates for Dems to play very aggressively

My fear is that Dems have shown they don't have the balls to use power and also to play like Republicans and not be afraid to do a little mud slinging and play dirty a little.

We all also need to be very aware of perspective here. We know we are going to get the majority of Dem support. It's important to look at it the other way and recognize the lack of Republican support and put pressure there. Similar to DA 2010 and how people don't blame Republicans. Not even a a reasonable fraction wanted to support us Dreamers, one of the least controversial groups to give relief to. Pitiful.

Coney Barrett didn't have any Dem support yet they rammed her thru

Same as the tax reform benefitting the corps

Yes Dems lack balls. That is the problem

Yep, if the Dems really want to get it done, they can. They should just play out of McConnell's playbook for the next two years at least.

Will they? Who knows, especially with all this warm and fuzzy unity and healing talk.
