I hate how they always lump us in with all these different migrant groups and come up with gigantic all-or-nothing legalization schemes.

There will never be another 1986 amnesty. Ever.
The Republicans will always make sure of that.

They're always trying to legalize way too many people at once and that's why nothing happens. Numbers matter. Once the # of ppl hit the million marks, they get cold feet.

They need to save us first. Get us some GCs. It's not a big step to go from temporary status to a permanent one and we got enough public support.

They could legalize all the Dreamers in small batches by giving them GCs to thin the numbers down to make it more politically acceptable ...

Ex:
1st year- all dreamers who initially filed in 2012
2nd year- all dreamers who initially filed in 2013
so on and so forth

It would be a slow and annoying, yes, but eventually your turn would come and the numbers of ppl being legalized would be low enough to make it more politically acceptable.

That's also very concerning and an issue not being discussed right now.

The queue is broken.
It is really long for some countries and categories.

They're still processing cases from 2007 for brothers/sisters of US citizens!
Married sons/daughters- 2010!

Yikes

The queue is broken.
If all are lumped together, then someone's parents from, let's say India, China, or Mexico(the three countries with the largest backlogs), have priority over a farmworker who has been toiling for 20-30 years to feed the nation and pays taxes.
Or a Dreamer nurse.
Or a TPS business owner.
Or much needed construction workers.

The system is broken and no longer serves the nation's interests.

Not sure how valid this is but at 5:17 in the above video it states that “there are no quotas or caps for green cards under registry”

One of my retirement option was costa rica. Its is not too difficult to retire there and its a pretty decent play from what i have researched. There are options for you, just do the research and i am sure you can find something. This is just 1 stage in our lives, i most likely wont retire in the us since its expensive
