They want to keep us on DACA without a work permit so it saves us from deportation and they don’t get a bad image because they know damn well Dreamers getting deported in a midterm year won’t look good for them.

No wonder they are struggling with the Latino vote even in a deep Blue state in California. Because Latinos are finally waking up and seeing the empty promises Democrats bring to the table.
That's the sad part... news media will just cover for the administration and just pitch this as a positive step and this being the greatest thing since slice bread for us but it's far from the truth... nothing changes... just gets worse.

Just look at the southern border mess... and we have a few democrats running around screaming that border agent's actions on the Haitians is worse than "slavery" and falsely claiming border agents are going around whipping people.

Funny enough, most of those dems are not from border states... In the obama era, the midterms flipped 60 house seats to red... whose willing to bet its even worse this time... I say 70+ seats flip

Dems need a wake up call. Fake wokeism means nothing... they need real issues, for real people, a united party, with united goals.

This is actually good news, a step in the right direction. The more entangled DACA becomes in legalities the likely it is to remain around.

As for EAD, the program is tightly coupled with employment authorization. Basically, one cannot survive without the other for the mere reason that DACA alone induces economic damages for people under the program currently.

If this new regulation isn't challenged and becomes a reality, any attempts in the future to remove it will be black and white. Either both DACA and EADs are nixed or neither.

Regardless, the ultimate solution is to pass legislation to protect DACAers.

You get deferred action. I.e. you will not get deported while you have DACA. That benefit is separate from work authorization.

At that point you should send in a (c)(14) I-765 and if they reject or deny it sue USCIS for violating 8 CFR 274a.12(c)(14). That'd be a quite interesting fix against Hanen's bullshit.

I confess I haven't made it through the 205 pages, but there are some concerning parts on an option to potentially sever work authorization from the program and allow DACA recipients to apply only for protection from deportation without work authorization. /3

The MOST important things to remember today are:
(1) this is just a proposed rule. It is not final, no changes have been made to DACA today.
(2) Your voice is what matters. I will share more info on how to plug into the comment campaign in the coming days. /4

Dreamers are Americans. And proudly so.

This is their home. It will always be.

Protecting DACA is a moral imperative.

And this is just the beginning of our efforts to create a pathway to citizenship for those seeking refuge, safety, and stability.

----

The never-ending cycle continues.... and what actually helps me feel a little better is that the Trump admin. was actively, as hard as they possible could, trying to completely do away with the program and we somehow survived.
