I know it’s a bit early, but anyone know how long you could stay out of the country with something like this ?

(A) provide employment and travel author-
ization to such alien; and…

(a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary of Homeland Security shall—
(1) under section 212(d)(5) of the Immigration
and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1182(d)(5)) and consistent with this section, parole into the United
States for a period of 5 years or until September 30,
2031, whichever is earlier, an alien described in subsection (b), if such alien—
(A) files an application for parole after the
date of the enactment of this section;
(B) pays an administrative fee in an
amount sufficient to cover the cost of processing the application
; and
(C) completes security and law enforcement background checks to the satisfaction of
the Secretary; and
(2) for the period during which an alien is paroled into the United States under paragraph (1)
and any period in which such parole is extended

Does anyone know the total cost for the work permit and the application?

If this is all we get, at least will be covered for 10 years. Results innVA not a good sign.

The House bill is intended to take into account the Senate parliamentarians' issues so far. Durbin says he is assuming that the Senate Ds will accept what the House sends on legal immigration. That's good news, though the parl is the big issue.

@SpeakSamuel
I mean, this is going to also get struck down by the parliamentarian, right? This whole legalization via reconciliation saga (and the coverage of it) seems really nihilistic and pointless, even by Congress's standards. What's the argument that this meets her requirements? twitter.com/carolinesimon6…

@David_J_Bier
Is it... "a broad, new immigration policy"?
Does it have... "broad bipartisan support"?
Will it... "remove legal bars to adjustment for many millions of people"?
Will it cover only those... "not barred under law from applying for status"?

Will it trigger... "other, life-changing federal, state and societal benefits"?
Will it allow... "work anywhere in almost any job"?
Will it allow... "the ability to obtain a driver’s license in any state"?
If allowed, could it be "repealed by simple majority vote"?

I'm not trying to be depressing, but her first ruling is a whole host of objections and how can anyone be confident that this overcomes them all?

Question, permission to travel. Does that mean we still have to go through the BS process we do with DACA to travel or no? Are we still gonna have to fear the “might not be able to enter” part? Or we will be able to travel freely?

If this passes, I think its awesome. Maybe things will change in 10 years. Maybe not. But at least, it will give us a timeline to work something out instead of living in increment of 2 years.

Guys, hate to break it to y'all, but the political climate has shifted after today's election. No immigration provision will pass. The so call moderate democrats will realign their political message for 2024 which means any benefit for "illegal alien" has become a poison pill.
