How to Travel Domestically after May 2023

I've read the requirements here in NY to get a Real ID, but EAD is not enough and needs to be supplemented with Passport (with Visa or I-94 attached). Is travelling not an option after this date?

I may have to take a trip to Silicon Valley after this date, for educational reasons, and would like to prepare for the worst.

If you have driver license with gold star on the corner, you should be fine.

edit: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766) is listed as acceptable.

I've been using my foreign passport instead of my driver's license just to see what happens.
The TSA agents don't seem to care but I wonder if they can see that I have DACA on their screen.
One time there was a border patrol agent checking documents before people got on the plane, but they gave an announcement beforehand, so if I didn't have a status I would simply not board the plane.

My parents have been getting on flight using just foreign passport. TSA agent don't check for visa and I guess their screen doesn't show anything? but they haven't had any issues.

After May 3, 2023, if you're going to use a license it must be Real ID (star on it), but TSA shows you can still use a foreign passport, not sure what if they'll check status.

Straight from DHS, DACA are allowed a limited Real ID. Not sure if states can ask for more. NY process online asks for EAD, i767, and passport "certified" by DHS, so I might give it a shot in person using EAD, i767, and the actual i-821D approval. Otherwise, TSA website shows you can simply show your EAD.

Just show them your EAD instead of your license. That being said, Real ID was passed in 2005, it's been getting pushed back for 17 years now, I don't think it's ever going to be in effect, but you know, it's law on the books, DHS can't just say "No, we won't ever implement it", instead they just go "whoops, compliance is still low, lets push it back another year".

Washington State outright called their bluff, they don't offer Real ID. Your options are standard or enhanced if you're a citizen who frequently drives to Canada.

I really hope they kick the can down the road again until this thing is rescinded permenately. It was a knee-jerk suggestion after the 2001 attacks by the commission and of course Republicans attached it to a defense spending bill during a time of war so it was never debated on its own merit and passed. Democrats were spineless then as they are now so they didn't even make a stink about it. It would have done nothing to prevent 2001. It was just anti-immigrant nonsense.

This is what gave the green light to Texas to be one of the first to require citizenship status in 2010 and of course the governor then was Rick Perry and he wanted to run for president (before his "Oops" moment) so he pushed the DPS to enact that requirement before other places were doing it. But hey, at least he got to go to the Republican debates and flex his muscles and say how tough he was making life for "illegals". Well, he succeeded and made my already tough life a million times tougher.

The irony is that I remember in 1993 that it was REPUBLICANS who were against a National ID card and were fighting Hillary tooth & nail when Democrats were trying to pass universal healthcare. They said that the national health card that Clinton was proposing would amount to a national ID card. Real ID IS pretty much a national ID card and it's funny that some Republicans bitch about because it costs them more, but they still don't want undocumented people to have a license. And some are just idiots and say things like "I gotta pay more for my license while them thare eyelegals get to drive".
