DACA and Dreamers will be used as a bargaining chip to get the Senate Democrats to agree to stricter immigration laws and major changes.

Trumps 4 Pillars bill from 2018 included the following:
1. Path to Citizenship for DREAMers
2. Border Security
3. An End to the Diversity Visa Lottery
4. Restrictions on Family-Based Immigration

He will most likely try to add Asylum reform and end birthright citizenship in his next immigration bill. Based on the Democrat's immigration enforcement-only bill from 2023, I think they are getting ready to make a deal on stricter immigration laws.. Most acknowledge the border as a major issue and we will see them change their stance on it by the next election. We will first see Republicans try to do it alone and get blocked by the senate parliamentarian.

Democrats wont sign up for Asylum reform and End birthright citizenship from the go. Best we can get is a codified DACA with just Republicans going at it alone.

They got 8 months to do it then, then its mid-term election season again. I doubt they can do all that.

They need 60 votes in the Senate, they only have 53 so it is not a supermajority. Much of what Trump is saying is political theatre, reality is different. There is still a legal process to go through and that takes time.

I agree with birthright citizenship but Dem already tried Asylum reform in their failed 2023 bill so I think they would be open to certain changes. I would be happy with a codified DACA, it would mean safety and security we do not have.

I agree. That's fair.

There’s absolutely no way in hell they’re gonna deport even a million people from inland USA. But to think daca is a bargaining chip is dumb as hell. This isn’t 2017 where Trump had to leverage with the democrats. And for legal proceedings

What part of Trump controls the judicial system don’t you people get. He packed the courts with judges loyalists to him

In order to pass major legislation on immigration reform, it is necessary for him to have the support of Democratic Senators to reach the 60-vote threshold. It is unlikely that Thune will eliminate the filibuster for this purpose. If they were to attempt to push it through a budget reconciliation bill, it would still face significant obstacles.

The ability to achieve this goal will depend on whether the Senate parliamentarian determines that it aligns with the chamber's Byrd Rule. However, GOP senators could potentially override the parliamentarian to advance Trump's key legislative priorities.

I do acknowledge that DACA may not serve as the bargaining tool we anticipate, not only with Republicans but also with Democrats. Democrats did not mention us in their stringent border bill, even with a Democratic president, what makes us believe that they will support any other bill moving forward with a Republican president?
