I think it hurt DACA more than anyone. Asylees, and Refugees, and other people with work permits ahve a path to get permanent residency and then a again eventually CDL.

If they were concerned about the languace Daca people have knowledge of English.

Truck driving had been good career parth for people that had to work right away and could not take time to go to college, or lived in a state that didnt give instate tuition.

Not to mention the shortage in drivers,

Trucking is a horrendous job. Doing them a favor from my pov. Especially with the rise of automation. Just wait until the train companies can fully automate the rails and loading and unloading trains at depots to self driving trucks. They'll be loading trains 3 high and running them at 80mph. There won't be a human in sight and it'll operate 24/7 rain or shine. And of course, it'll all be managed remotely from a team in India or Bangladesh for pennies on the dollar all overseen by an AI. Then all maintained at a fully automated maintenance depot. Like they do with vehicle manufacturing.

Human truckers can do at best 12 hours of driving and they can only take one load of cargo. Maybe the train companies will stack them 4 high. Trains are incredibly efficient from a labor perspective.

I could even see them making enough profit to lay down new rail and even drill under cities completely circumventing the highways that are always clogged with traffic. With those tunnel boring machines.
