Actually I remember back in 2005/2006 the republicans were trying to push an immigration bill that would criminalize providing aid to the undocumented. That's what republicans do when they have a majority. They passed that bill I believe in December 2005, during the lame duck session after they had lost their majority to democrats. So this whole excuse about them not wanting to pass something like immigration reform during the lame duck is baloney. We've seen what kind of bills they pass when they are in majority. It's not good.

I was talking about the other people who will be left out of this upcoming executive order. For them 2016 will make or break their hopes.

As for getting married, I could have always gotten married with or without this program but it's not so easy to find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with and I wasn't and will never use anybody just to get a green card.

what i don't get is how most people make the assumption that we're skipping in front of legal immigrants like we had an advantage over them by coming here illegally and living the way we do.

how long does it take to become a resident of the US? i'm pretty ignorant with most of this stuff but unless it's longer than 25 years than i wouldn't mind trading places with any legal immigrant. for 25 years i've been here and i haven't been living here in the rosiest of conditions either.

someone please tell me do most immigrants that come here legally take 25 years or more to acquire some kind of status? i don't know maybe they do, maybe that's why they keep saying that we're cutting in line. maybe i should count myself lucky to have only been here for 25 years living in poor conditions. maybe those legal immigrants ARE indeed jealous of my life.

Agreed. If you are a recipient of DACA the president is the reason who have it, along with the activist you fought and kept pressure on him to do it. Also, politicians always fib or stretch the truth. They are politicians after all.
