I ask because there was talk of people being able to renew from today until 3/5/18 but the DHS memo says they won't accept any new applications or 'associated applications' dated from today. I assume that the 'associated applications' are renewals, so it sounds like there wont' be more renewals allowed after today either?
No, they're allowing renewals.

  1. No more initial app
  2. Renewal accepted if you expire before 3/5/18, and app in by 10/5/17
  3. EAD valid until their expiration date
  4. Advanced parole is immediately canceled, even those being processed (not sure what it means for those out of the country right now)

No it's 3/5/18, not 9/5/18. If you expire next September, they'll reject your app 100%, and keep your money.

Will adjudicate—on an individual, case by case basis—properly filed pending DACA renewal requests and associated applications for Employment Authorization Documents from current beneficiaries that have been accepted by the Department as of the date of this memorandum, and from current beneficiaries whose benefits will expire between the date of this memorandum and March 5, 2018 that have been accepted by the Department as of October 5, 2017.

"Will not terminate the grants of previously issued deferred action or revoke Employment Authorization Documents solely based on the directives in this memorandum for the remaining duration of their validity periods."

"Will reject all DACA renewal requests and associated applications for Employment Authorization Documents filed outside of the parameters specified above."

Do they really keep your money even if your application is rejected?

although it will generally honor the stated validity period for previously approved applications for advance parole.

Reading the memo, it seems that if you are out of the country on AP, they will still honor it if you try to come back... If they let you come in is probably another story, just look at the people detained and sent back when the muslim ban issued.
