The math: Procedural vote Fri nite got 50 yeas. Graham & Flake were noes. Likely to be yeas. that's 52. 5 Dems were yeas Fri: Donnelly, Heitkamp, Manchin, Jones, McCaskill. McConnell is technically a yea. So that's 53. Still need 7 Dems. Look at moderate Dems who are up this fall. @chadpergram

What's a "commitment" going to do for anyone. That is such a bullshit term that doesn't even have teeth or legal effect.

If any Senate Democrats flip to yes, any funding should be stripped in their re-election this year.

They will make the Democrats look stupid if they shutdown the government for nothing.

The fact that Sen. McConnell is offering floor time before or after Feb 8 is a big development in itself. It took the shutdown to get him to realize negotiating with the White House is impossible unil the Senate does it's job and offer votes to show that DACA fix can pass the Senate.

The House can vote on it's Goodlatte bill but we all know not all Republicans support so it would fail.

I'm highly optimistic. Could be wrong but I'm proud of the Sen. Dems for once.

Speaker Ryan mght not be running for another term as Speaker so the rumors have it so probably he will eventually allow a vote and break the Master rule. That rule has been broken before and I don't think the not so coo coo Reps in leadership understand that after Trumps irrationally use of tweets has only made the Republican brand more toxic and less "big tent" ideology that was the type of Republicans were for the most part under Bush etc.

The longer the shutdown lasts the more difficult it will be to get a good deal on all issues raised by Sen. Dems.

And for all of u this might be a surprise but I do agree that this is more than just DACA. It's also about government not passing it's basic duty to fund it's budget on a timely responsible manner. The disaster relief and opioid crisis is also important for them and they should care.

Republicans just can't get past the minority. They got to listen to their concerns and ideas and actually VOTE on stuff. That's the rule of the Senate and it should continue to be if Americans have any hope of keeping bipartisanship as the model to govern such a deeply divided nation.

7 Dems. That will be the magic number to get 60 votes on Monday's noon procedural vote: Look at moderates, those up this fall or those from Metro DC: Kaine, Warner, Van Hollen, Cardin, Casey, Brown, Nelson, Tester, Baldwin & new MN Sen Tina Smith. @chadpergram
