Has he? I'm old enough to remember not too long ago when Trump said he'd sign ANY bill that Congress passed (even if it didn't have everything he wanted). Sure the WH Proposal/Corynn/Grassley bill could be worse, but I wouldn't consider it 'fair' or 'good'.

I disagree. I don't think anything asked by Trump is too crazy. Can't fault if the country wants to lean towards Merit based immigration vs. family. Many first world countries take this approach. Infact, I wholeheartedly support whoever can contribute to the economy MORE.

But the key wording is if congress managed to pass something. He knows congress was gonna be much tougher on immigration than him so whatever they were able to get away with, he would sign.

At least, thats the way I saw it.

The problem is the WH proposal introduced by GOP Senators doesn't enact any merit based immigration system. Instead it says they hope while the backlog of the family petitions is being processed that Congress will address it.

So with cotton implying POTUS is firm on his demands, dems will have to be flexible. The senate is proceeding with the speed of a turtle. How long is the debate expected to last guys

@TheToddSchulte
Remember:

The central question of this week is WHY are some Senators only willing to not deport dreamers and increase border security IF they can also slash legal immigration?

It's a good point. Why does it have to be coupled together? Address family migration systems under CIR when they have the time to work on a fair merit based program.
