Most of the time...people are not aware of these things but I'm sure if they knew, they'd be totally in support of help for you and many others who also have serious income and other hardships...Those grants you applied for asked for you to prove your hardship? Glad you were able to get help....

We need to also understand...getting an EAD for DACA recipient basically means extending your DACA status, they renew your 821D so this is something DACA recipients must do to renew. However, I do see other peoples point that if people are able to work and have like no issues...they really shouldn't apply for these things and leave it to those who actually need.

I don't see anything wrong with him taking the money. The grant had it's criteria and he met them. In some form everyone games the system and if you're wishing bad karma on someone who took $500 then you're going have a real hard time when you realize billions of dollars are being gamed by the wealthy. Even in the recent examples of the CARE packages. PPP were exploited but multi million/billion dollar companies. They met the criteria so they got the grant. If they don't take it then their competitors will take it and they are at a competitive disadvantage. Should you really be mad at them though?

This is what gives us immigrants in a bad name, especially when someone in boasting about the grant.

My first question was to ask if they were a student or had a need. I do not apologize for not supporting moochers.

Nothing selfish about it. Reading through this thread a lot of posters have a "fuck you, as long as I get mine" mentality. I'm an aged out dreamer myself but came as a child. Ain't no one that can tell me I'm less deserving than dreamers who are younger than me or who came after me. I literally - and I do mean literally - missed the cut off date by eight months. At the end of the day, no one gives a shit.

I am so sorry! I really hope any resolution includes aged out dreamers!

there isn't anything concrete out yet. even if there is just a daca bill there eventually needs to be a bill to address the whole undocumented population. You'll drive yourself crazy if you get your ups and down based on what these politicians say/promise.

As part of COVID relief, the president-elect and Democratic leadership could decide to include measures offering legal status to essential workers via a process known as budget reconciliation, and that would only need 51 votes to pass the Senate.
