I was just looking at the top ten, noticing the pot idea, just sitting there, thinking of how embarrassing for the site it is. I won't explain my reasons (they're obvious enough), but I wish that thing could just be struck down, helping us and the site.

I think it could actually be done (this is from change.org):

"What should my idea be about?

The mission of Ideas for Change in America is to identify and advance concrete solutions to the major challenges confronting the country, and we welcome any ideas consistent with this vision. Ideas that conflict with the spirit of this mission, that look backward instead of forward, that express values without offering solutions, that offer solutions which won't receive serious consideration by either the Obama administration or the 111th Congress, that are intended to attack others, or are otherwise offensive are not eligible for the second round. We reserve the right to remove any ideas that violate these stated principles."

Change.GOV already experienced this problem with pot swarming when it had its idea section, and they actually addressed it in their "answers" section. Though I can't find the exact quote, the transition site answered with a simple sentence, more or less: "President-Elect Obama does not support the legalization of marijuana."

I think it's a legitimate issue. But it does not deserve to be #1. It does make the site and the voters look like a joke. People really need to get their priorities straight. Pot just does not have considerable health or economical benefits to be considered.

Agreed. I am so upset because of the priority is has on change.org (and hence how "important" people think it is), but I do think the idea itself is debatable.

This is exactly what I was saying before but people weren't agreeing with me..
I know it's a legitimate reason but come on, we all know if Obama gets a letter from change.org and the first "idea" is legalize pot. he's not gonna hesitate to place the letter on his "to shred" pile..

Hey guys don't you quit on me now, you guys need to finish up at change.org, I see some of you are giving the attention to change.gov, which is fine, but we need to finish up on change.org first. We are now in 9th place, I hope the 3,000 emails i sent out helped a little. We need to finish up on change.org, and after winning this, then we can put all our attention to change.gov, come on now! there only 1 day left, we can do it.. Keep pushing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you start to put the attention somewhere else, then new people will think that is more important, and it is important. But right now, the most important is finishing in the top 10 at change.org. Give the example!! we need to take this by storm, and then everyone will be talking about us, and then we can start doing more amazing things. Come on now!, I think maybe you should lock that other post, and start prioritizing or do whatever you need to do!
