My tax preparer told me that I could file amendments for the last three years to receive the credits I was unable to receive before because I was using an ITIN, primarily the child tax credit for my son. At the same the amendments were going to be used to rescind ITIN and notify IRS of the new SSN.

From what Ive heard from people with debt on their Itin is that the debt does find its way to you, dependin on how vicious the creditors go after you. They have addresses, phone numbers and such which can be traced back to you and miraculously appear in your new social as debt..
