$900, inclusive of a friends and family discount. The same lawyer prepped my mom's AOS package and has done the same thing for her friends in the past.

That's relatively cheap for an AOS lawyer.

I was quoted from $2k to 5k. Fees not included.

So the most honest answer about getting marry right now is because we want to start the AOS process early and also I want to claim her on my taxes this year and get her on my employer health insurance since she has no insurance right now.
probably don't offer up that explanation unless the officer asks specifically, and even then be careful with the wording

You should simply explain how and why you want to be together/live together aside from the immigration benefits. The officers understand you're going through the AOS process to get a green card so there's no need to explain that to them. doing so just kinda sounds like that's the only or main reason you're together, if that makes sense?

So I assume a marriage civil ceremony, then wedding?

Still, the very mention of marriage solely for an immigration benefit is a prime example of fraud.

@eRkah,

You might want to call USCIS and ask for a Level 2 officer to see if they may look into the details of the delay.

The civil surgeon I used last year charged only $180. I made sure to ask questions ahead of time what they knew and the costs associated with what they provide.

For those wanting to apply WITHOUT A LAWYER here is an AOS list that was posted. This is the same list i used and received NO RFE. I did EVERYTHING on my own (didnt want my husband to help lol)

You may file these forms together. If you choose instead to file Form I-765 and/or Form I-131 separately after July 30, 2007, you must also submit a copy of your I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of that you filed a Form I-485.
If you filed your Form I-485 before July 30, 2007, you must pay the fees associated with Forms I-765 and/or I-131 when you file them.

Why would you get anything in the mail at this stage? You have many more months to go.
